Millfield Baptist Church is a moderate Baptist church located in northern Southampton County, Virginia. This is an historic congregation—having been around for over 170 years—but it is also an active fellowship seeking to serve the residents of Southampton, Sussex, Isle of Wight, and Surry counties. Some members’ families have lived on the same land nearby for generations. Others moved here much more recently. Some of members farm the land around the church while others commute to jobs in Suffolk, Chesapeake, and Newport News.

One of the unique things affecting the design, development, and deployment of this Web site is that neitherbroadband cable nor fiber-optic Internet connections are available within the county. Thefore, the Web site was implemented so that it is easily and quickly opened by visitors who are restricted to dial-up or DSL Internet access.

Content management and data assurance are provided by the use of Adobe Contribute. The church’s need for an administrator, or webmaster, is very limited. This makes the site very affordable to the congregation.
